Wellington

2025 · resource · places

Here’s a very brief guide I shared for a friend recently.

One day I’ll update this with a proper walkthrough of everything this wonderful city has to offer.

Walk down Cuba St (lots of cute little shops and quirky people 🤪)

Coffee at Raglan Roast (Abel Smith St) - big open space with comfy chairs, my favourite cafe

Walk along the waterfront down to Ortiental Bay. I often run along there all the way around the coast, it’s so beautiful

For some inner city nature, head up to Mount Victoria. You can do a nice one hour walk through some woods and then up to an amazing view of the city

Pegasus Books - a really cute second hand book shop. And it’s in a nice little enclave of shops

Aunty Menas - super tasty vegetarian Malaysian restaurant and a cute vibe

Head to Newtown for the hipster end of the city, cool cafes and second hand shops

For a day out walking, head to Otari Wilton Bush. There’s a beautiful old tree there and a great trek up to the Skyline which is a walk along hills

Breaker Bay is my favourite beach but a little hard to access via public transport (couple buses)

The Rogue and Vagabond is a great little bar that often has live music, and a green area outside where you can sit on beanbags
